Dinner here was incredible, so I was clearly excited when I found out that the next stop in our monthly brunch tour, organized by Megan, would be at Marchand's. Chef Mark Heimann and his team wowed us from start to finish with tasting plates of several of their brunch dishes, pastries and desserts. But first, the beverages!
Check out the plethora of accoutrements you can add to your Bloody Mary. Aside from the "usual suspects" of celery and citrus, their make-your-own Bloody Mary bar offers house-pickled green beans, okra, homemade pickles, jerky, feta-stuffed Peppadews, goat cheese-stuffed olives, salami, shrimp, cippolini onions, smoked Gouda and more. It's like a cocktail playground.
A variety of salts for rimming your glass and a selection of hot sauces....
Here was my spicy creation, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
There is also a make-your-own mimosa bar, complete with five different housemade purees..peach, blackberry, watermelon, etc.
We sampled some amazing housemade pastries, of which the personal standout for me was this sinful pull-part Monkey Bread, served in a skillet of warm caramel cinnamon sauce. Calories don't count at brunch, which is another reason why it's a favorite meal of mine.
After the pastries, we sampled these dishes: Top right: eggs-in-a-jar with Anson Mills grits and corn-fried rock shrimp. Top left: Quiche with lump crab, roasted red pepper, charred leek and cheese. Bottom left: Red wine-poached egg with La Quercia prosciutto on sourdough with Bearnaise sauce. Bottom right: House-brined corned beef hash with a fried duck egg, served with potatoes and Hollandaise.
My favorites were the Blackberry cobbler served with vanilla bean ice cream.....and a Lemonade Cake with whipped cream and candied lemon. I loved the poppyseeds and the compote on the side. In summary, Sunday brunch at Marchand's is a must-do when in St. Pete, and I thank Chef Heimann and team for hosting us. Presentation is beautiful, everything is always made in-house whenever possible, and I really love that detail. The live jazz music is a plus!
