Ashleigh is a first grade teacher and she has always really liked sharing Dr. Seuss' books with her class, so the theme seemed perfectly made for her. I ordered these invitations on Etsy...see the "New Fish" in the baby carriage?
Specialty menus were printed with the theme and I printed one as part of the decor.
One of our friends found this adorable themed diaper cake, also on Etsy. There were "One Fish, Two Fish" finger puppets tucked into the ribbons surrounding the diapers.
Paper lanterns were hung from the chandelier in the cneter of the private dining room we were in at Francessco's Ristorante in Maitland.
How adorable was this custom-made cake? The napkins and cake plates were fund at Party City; they have a whole line of decor that fits this exact theme.
The mom of the mother-to-be is amazing with floral decor and she created seven of these arrangements which brightened up every corner of the room. One of the shower games was guessing the ages of the dad- and mom-to-be in childhood photos of their own. The prizes for the winners? Bottles of wine, of course!
The other game was "Guess the # of Goldfish" in the jar. We chose these two games because they didn't take up much time during the shower. They were fun, there were prizes, but these two choices still allowed everyone to "play" while they chatted and mingled.
We all signed a copy of the actual "One Fish, Two Fish" book as a guest book, which Ashleigh will be able to keep as a souvenir of the shower.
Baby onesies were strung around the room adding color and tying the decor all together. The onesies, of course were given to the mom-to-be at the end.
Now onto the food. In my opinion, food is of the utmost importance at any party! Francesco's did an absolutely amazing job with our luncheon. All their pastas are homemade, their red sauce was divine, and the service was seriously top-notch. If I still lived in the Orlando area, I would be frequenting this place, and I highly recommend it. Pictured above was my lunch, the Chicken Parmesan. Incredible! And this is the penne with vodka sauce, broccoli and sun-dried tomatoes.
I think Ashleigh really loved the shower, and it was my mission for my best friend to enjoy her special day celebrating her baby, who will be here in 6 short weeks!
